Senior Collection

             My sportswear collection is inspired by fierce birds like the cassowary and iridescent birds like the magpie. The intensity of the birds and the essence of fear, ferocity and darkness inspired the limited color palette and severe shapes. The collection is also inspired by the iconography associated now with the mocking jay and black swans; power strength and intimidation. The textures in the collection come from birds’ dinosaur like toughness and their softer elegance. Hand beading and embroidery, hand painted leather, tubular inserts and quilted sweatshirt add dimension and power to the collection as unique details. The main cohesive fabric is sweatshirt material that adds a “sport lux” feel to the collection. I also used silk organza, black jersey knit, wool coating and black cow leather in the collection.
